This position will join the Commercial and Regulatory Legal Team and primarily provide legal support to the corporate and investment banking segments with respect to the derivatives business. The attorney will work closely with Global Markets business line with respect to the execution of interest rate and foreign exchange products and related documentation, and will also support related back:office functions and perform related regulatory work. The ideal candidate will have experience with, and significant interest in, one or more of the following: (1) interest rate, foreign exchange or commodity swaps or other derivative products, (2) commercial lending, including syndicated credits, or (3) financial institution regulatory practice, including regulatory policy and strategies.The ideal candidate will satisfy the following requirements: Two or more years of significant law firm (or in:house legal) experience structuring, negotiating and documenting commercial credit or other financial services arrangements;Experience supporting interest rate sales and trading desks or familiarity with documentation of swap transactions and related agreements (including negotiating ISDA Schedules, Credit Support Annexes, Confirmations and Risk Participation Agreements) strongly preferred;Good experience with, and a sound understanding of banking and derivatives regulations strongly preferred;Ability to work in a fast:paced environment;Strong verbal and written communication skills;Strong academic credentials;A JD or an LLM from an ABA accredited law school;An active license to practice law in at least one state in the U.S. and the ability and willingness to locate in Birmingham, AL. Candidates with ideal experience may be able to locate in Houston, TX. Grade 212:6 years of significant law firm or in:house bank counsel experience. Grade 226:10 years of significant law firm or in:house bank counsel experience. Grade 23At least 8 years of relevant law firm or in:house bank counsel experience.
