Brasfield and Gorrie, a recognized leader in the construction industry, has an exciting opportunity available for a Payroll Specialist in Birmingham, Alabama. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the processing of weekly multi:state payroll including computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, processing requests for paycheck advances and processing terminations. Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):Process weekly payroll using JD Edwards Oracle Enterprise One including but not limited to keying hours, entering tax and direct deposit informationWork with Human Resources to determine deductions and benefitsProvide customer service about payroll related questions to our jobsites and employees.Answer inquiries and provide information; research and resolve payroll issues and discrepanciesAssist in resolution of issues presented by payroll staffCalculate and distribute manual checks and bonusesVerifications of EmploymentIssue stop payment requestsProvide reports and any other requested information for internal or external auditsSet up and correction of Federal, Multi:State and Local Tax issuesOthers duties as assigned High School diploma or GED requiredThree or more years of payroll or related experienceFPC or CPP certifications preferred but not requiredStrong customer service and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of payroll principles, practices, regulations and proceduresMust be a team playerExcellent communication, analytical, mathematical and organizational skillsFamiliar with Microsoft Excel and OutlookAbility to learn new computer softwareKnowledge of Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise One preferred but not required
