Physical Therapist
Job Responsibilities
A Physical Therapist directs physical therapy treatment toward preventing disability, relieving pain, developing, improving and/or restoring muscle function and maintaining maximum performance within the clients capabilities in accordance with the plan or care/treatment. A Physical Therapist oversees physical therapy assistants to ensure appropriate implementation of the plan of care.
Specific tasks assigned to a Physical Therapist:
:Evaluate the clients level of function by applying diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint, and functional abilities tests
:Evaluate the home environment for rehabilitation and makes appropriate recommendations
:Supply physical therapy services in the home
:Administer manual therapeutic exercises; instruct, motivate, and assist clients in non:manual exercises and functional activities
:Evaluate, fit and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices
:Participate in the development, review, and updating of the care plan
:Prepare clinical records
:Instruct and supervise Home Health Aides or CNAs/STNAs, as applicable, in certain phases of physical therapy services
:Instruct the client/family in the use and care of physical therapy devices and on clients total physical therapy program
:Supervise the Physical Therapy Assistant minimally
:Accessible to the Physical Therapy Assistant when a Physical Therapy Assistant is providing treatment to a client
:Participate in the marketing efforts of the office as needed
:Participate in community relations activities as directed
:Knowledge and ability and the necessary skill and judgment to perform all procedures as outlined
:Ability to contribute as a team member and ability to work independently
:Excellent verbal and written communication skills
:Strong interpersonal skills
:Knowledge of the regulatory requirements at the state, federal, and local level
A Physical Therapist must be a graduate of an accredited physical therapy program. One (1) year of physical therapy experience in acute care/home care setting is preferred or as required by law. A qualified Physical Therapist will have a current valid license as a physical therapist by the state(s) of practice, a current CPR certification. Auto liability insurance and a current and unrestricted drivers license is also required.
