Keeping the network safe and reliable ensures that our users stay connected with our applications, products and services. **Position Overview:** This role will act as the subject matter expert for cloud and web security in general, but be specifically focused on Cloud Security Brokers (CASB), scripting and security in SaaS, IaaS and PaaS environments. They will be expected to collaborate with lead engineers in our organization responsible for web and application services, load balancers and web authentication infrastructure, and with colleagues in the wider organization who manage networks, logging, application architecture and other related technologies. This role serves a critical part in protecting our nation's critical infrastructure, including the electric grid, nuclear power plants, and other aspects of generation, transmission, and distribution processes. **Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree preferred + 5-7 years of demonstrable and applicable experience within the information security domain Experience with one or more areas: network infrastructure, modern operating systems, database applications, web applications and other computing technologies + Moderate to heavy cloud security experience across a least one or more of the major cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) + Practical and theoretical knowledge of web malware attack vectors and mitigation techniques + Expert knowledge of web security concepts and cyber-attacks vectors covering network through application layers + Experience in networking concepts and services, such as VPNs, IPSEC, PKI and TCP/IP + Experience with Linux/UNIX/Windows server, MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL + Programming/Scripting Languages: Python, Perl, Angular, JS + Experience with Git, Jenkins, Chef and Puppet + Familiarity with DevOps and Agile methodologies + Experience with Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) (Skybox, Elastica, Cloudlock, etc.) preferred + Industry certification preferred (CISSP, CISA, GIAC, AWS) **Job Responsibilities:** + Drive cloud security engineering for Technology Organization in both IaaS/PaaS and SaaS implementations + Be actively involved in strategic projects that require expertise in the domain of cloud security + Assess existing cloud implementations, identifying security issues and prioritizing fixes + Develop and implement new tools that will help support our DevOps/SecOps processes to ensure proper security posture of cloud compute resources + Provide subject matter expertise in support of migration to public and hybrid cloud service architecture. + Engage and empower Technology Organization personnel and other business units to understand and apply information security concepts to mitigate corporate risk + Plan, coordinate and provide subject matter leadership on information security projects + Help customers understand and apply information security concepts, processes and technologies + Maintain current knowledge of information security concepts, technologies and practices **Job Requirements** : + United States citizenship is required + Awareness of energy industry trends, opportunities and challenges + Strong technical consulting experience; ability to understand business requirements and present appropriate solutions + Effectively communicate both technical and business requirements + Ability to work independently or within a team + Demonstrated critical, independent thinking; demonstrated ability to conceive and present creative solutions + Basic budgeting, accounting and financial skills preferred + Must pass NERC CIP & Insider Threat Protection background checks + Occasional travel to local and regional locations in pursuit of the job duties and requirements. **Ideal Candidate:** + Bachelor's Degree in relevant curricula + Prior experience implementing and supporting security solutions in alignment with government regulations and private sector frameworks + Good understanding of cloud security, specifically Azure and AWS. + Good understanding of data protection, privacy, and compliance requirements + One or more of the following certifications:CISSP, CISA, GIAC, AWS, + Fortune 500 background \#LI With 4.4 million customers and more than 46,000 megawatts of generating capacity, Atlanta-based Southern Company is the premier energy company serving the Southeast through its subsidiaries.
