Job Description We are looking for a proactive, highly efficient legal professional with at least 3 years of litigation experience . This position involves a lot of interaction with attorneys, multi-tasking, ability to meet deadlines, and prioritization. This person will draft legal documents, and general law office administration. Legal Research and Presentations This position will be responsible for assisting his/her attorney in preparing for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials. A large part of these responsibilities consist of conducting legal research and gathering relevant information to the case. This includes researching the facts of the case as well as identifying the appropriate laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles relevant to the case. Drafting Legal Documents This can include drafting correspondence and pleadings, such as complaints, subpoenas, interrogatories, requests for production of documents, deposition notices, pretrial orders, and legal briefs. Law Office Administration Paralegals are expected to handle administrative tasks such as filing, answering telephone calls, scanning documents, data entry, strong computer and database management skills, and maintaining and organizing files. This person must be able to learn and utilize the Needles database system for data entry, checklists, documentation, and interoffice communications. Paralegal should have an organized mind and the ability to multitask. Competencies Client Focus Knowledge and experience in personal injury litigation Personal Credibility/Effectiveness Results Driven and Detail Oriented Teamwork Oriented Professional Written and Verbal Skills Organized Required Education and Experience High school diploma Minimum of 3 Years experience Ability to type 50 wpm MS Office Preferred Experience and Skills Litigation paralegal experience (Minimum of 3 years) BS or BA Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where being thorough and accurate is important. Experience serving as a paralegal for at least one year. Familiarity with Alacourt a plus. Work Environment This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, scanners, postage machines and fax machines. Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Employee must be able to work an 8-hour workday between the hours of 7:30am and 5:30pm Monday through Friday. No travel is expected for this position.
